Social media platform X has continued to draw attention for its moderation, particularly in how it handles the accounts of high-profile individuals. In recent years, the platform’s decisions under owner Elon Musk have generated scrutiny, especially concerning account reinstatements and the spread of content. These decisions often appear to fluctuate based on external reactions.
Two public figures frequently associated with such cases are rapper Kanye West and internet personality Sneako, both of whom have experienced cycles of removal and reinstatement. Sneako’s association with Kanye West has deep roots. The two first met in late 2022, and their connection deepened in December 2023 when Sneako rejoined West’s team after prior creative differences. In 2024, Sneako contributed to West’s presidential campaign, appearing in related content. In 2025, he played a role in mixing and mastering DONDA 2 and worked closely on creative elements related to the CUCK era, though much of this collaboration remains unreleased. Their online activities reflect the evolving dynamics of celebrity influence.
West, also known as Ye or Ye Ye, has a history of contentious social media behavior. In 2017, he posted a tweet expressing support for then-President Donald Trump. The tweet was deleted shortly afterward, but archived snippets circulated widely online.
Similarly, Sneako, a content creator known for conducting street interviews and sharing political opinions, has demonstrated fluctuating political allegiances. At one point, Sneako publicly declared support for Trump, including in a tweet that stated, “I am voting for Donald Trump again,” according to reporting by Mundo Deportivo. However, in June 2025, Sneako shifted his stance and criticized the former president, calling him “a sellout who betrayed America.” This reversal drew attention on X, where users circulated images of Sneako meeting Trump, including at a UFC match.
In the same time frame, Sneako posted additional statements on X, including one video tweet asking viewers to “Tell black people why George Floyd died.” Another post acknowledged Floyd’s identity but adopted a different tone. These mixed messages contributed to public debate over Sneako’s intent and consistency.
On February 2, West brought up an image featuring a past livestream snapshot of Sneako holding a copy of George Floyd Creepypastas Volume 1: 50+ Breathtaking Horror Stories, a horror-themed book by Jordan Cleeman, which has been noted for combining internet “creepypasta” tales with references to George Floyd as the central figure. The post was subsequently removed, though recent screenshots and mentions continued to circulate on other platforms such as Reddit and Telegram. More recently, West attracted attention following comments about George Floyd. He previously suggested Floyd died for a reason that contradicted the conviction of former officer Derek Chauvin, sparking considerable backlash. Following criticism and the termination of his Adidas deal, West issued a public apology. Speaking to paparazzi, he said he understood “what it feels to have a knee on my neck” and expressed remorse to the Black community for his statements. He acknowledged empathy gained from losing business partnerships and the effects of media scrutiny.
The shifting positions of Sneako and West have fueled observations that some online figures adjust their messages in response to audience reactions or broader trends. This perception has been reinforced by the pattern of reversal and reengagement.
A televised interview hosted by British journalist Piers Morgan further highlighted tensions surrounding public statements. During the program, West and Sneako appeared together and were asked to respond to prior comments. The interview ended abruptly after West declined to address Morgan’s criticisms. Morgan later described the interaction as evasive. The interview segment was widely shared and commented upon, becoming part of a broader discourse on platform accountability and the responsibilities of high-profile users.
Analysts have pointed to several reinstated accounts as examples of this trend. In certain instances, accounts were restored after being previously banned for violating platform policies. The rationale for these decisions has not always been publicly disclosed, leading to speculation that public attention or media cycles may play a role in shaping enforcement outcomes. The activities of West and Sneako are representative of broader dynamics involving influential social media users. Online platforms increasingly serve as venues for political messaging, personal branding, and cultural commentary. Within this environment, shifts in tone or alignment can generate substantial engagement, regardless of the underlying motivation.
The experiences of these users, and the responses they have generated, underscore the complex intersection of social media, celebrity culture, and public accountability. As digital platforms play an increasing role in shaping dialogue and information dissemination, the consistency and transparency of content policies remain areas of close scrutiny.
